Dragonflies of Thailand – Damselflies of Thailand

The weather, always very hot, 32 – 36°C, was never perfect, alternating clouds, showers, thunderstorms and clear spells, which necessarily limited our discoveries. The ambient humidity is often trying.
The prospecting in the mountains, between 1000 and 1500 meters, in the torrents or rivers were welcome, because the temperature was much more bearable. We finally visited few ponds or lakes, these however always proved interesting, in particular at altitude.
I had already encountered in Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia many species that I saw again with pleasure. I photographed a little more than a hundred during this stay, including about thirty new ones. The identification was carried out by Phil Benstead with the help of Inaturalist and, upon return, a few books, mainly « A List of the Odonata from Thailand (Parts I – XXI)  » by Dr. Syoziro Asahina, published by Bro. Ammnay Pinratana in 1993.
On the Facebook group, we find the list of « Odonates of Thailand » as well as the invaluable help of Noppadon Makbun.

Consulting Dennis Farrell’s site is essential, as it is in English. There are undoubtedly other websites about Dragonflies of Thailand, but Thai calligraphy is completely incomprehensible to me.
